Well after almost a year and a half of planning, Four Niner Five is down in San Jose for the next month or two having almost her entire panel revamped.  Out come the old KX-170B nav coms, an ADF that is great for listening to AM radio (but not much else!), a Loran that serves to reduce my payload by 20lbs and a few other antiques.  In goes a new Garmin 347 Audio Panel, 430W, SL30 Nav/Com, GTX 327 transponder, two new Garmin CDIs and the pièce de résistance, an Aspen MFD 1000.  I’m quite excited.

Cuban lawmakers denounce Arizona immigration law

I’m no fan of Arizona’s new gestapo “do you have your papers?” law, but Cuba complaining about it is just too much. I’ve spent over two months in that country and I learned some very important things from ordinary Cubans after I gained their trust. One of them is that EVERY CUBAN MUST ALWAYS CARRY an ID card that includes their race (which in Cuba is a very interesting discussion!) and where they were born. A person born in a certain province must remain within that province unless granted permission to travel outside that province by their government. Cuban do not have the freedom to travel within their own country. Additionally, any policeman can ask any Cuban citizen without cause, to see their documents. So in other words, the Cuban government complaining about Arizona’s law smells, like fake Cuban cigars, like dog shit.

Not much to say. Who needs Republicans when Democrats can’t even get their act together.
